Medical Weight Program

Physician-Guided Weight Loss and Metabolic Health

Losing weight is rarely just about willpower.

Many people struggle with persistent hunger, slowed metabolism, insulin resistance, poor sleep, and chronic stress — all of which can make weight loss far more difficult than it should be.

If you've tried dieting, counting calories, or exercising harder but still struggle to lose weight or keep it off, you're not alone.

At Good Steward Health, our Medical Weight Program focuses on identifying and addressing the underlying drivers of weight gain, while providing medical support when appropriate.

This program combines metabolic care, lifestyle strategy, and medication when helpful, to support safe, sustainable weight loss.

A Different Approach to Weight Loss

Most weight loss programs focus on restriction.

They emphasize calories, short-term diets, and quick results — but rarely address the factors that actually regulate weight, including:

• Insulin resistance
• Appetite hormones
• Poor sleep and chronic stress
• Muscle mass and metabolism

When these factors are not addressed, weight loss becomes difficult to sustain.

Our approach focuses on improving the body’s internal environment, so that weight loss becomes more achievable — and more maintainable over time.

Our Approach and Philosophy

At Good Steward Health, we take a root-cause, physician-guided approach to weight loss.

We believe that caring for the body is an important form of stewardship — and that true health involves more than simply lowering a number on the scale.

Your care focuses on:

  • Improving metabolic function

  • Preserving and building lean muscle

  • Supporting appetite regulation

  • Creating sustainable nutrition patterns

  • Optimizing sleep and recovery

Medication may be used when appropriate, but it is not the foundation of the program.

The goal is to help your body function more efficiently so that results are sustainable long-term, not temporary.

How the Program Works

Patients begin with a medical consultation focused on weight and metabolic health.

During this visit, we review:

  • Medical and weight history

  • Prior weight loss attempts

  • Nutrition, sleep, and activity patterns

  • Metabolic risk factors

We then develop a personalized plan that may include:

  • Nutrition guidance

  • Resistance training recommendations

  • Lifestyle and sleep support

  • Metabolic monitoring

  • Medication when appropriate

Follow-up visits allow us to monitor progress, adjust your plan, and support long-term success.

During the first several months, visits are more frequent. Once stable, most patients transition to follow-up every three months.

Many patients continue this program for a year or longer as part of their long-term health plan.

What Patients Typically Experience

Many patients begin noticing changes within the first several weeks, including:

  • Reduced hunger

  • Feeling full sooner during meals

  • Fewer cravings and less snacking

Weight loss is typically gradual and sustainable, averaging about 0.5-1% of body weight per week.

In addition to weight loss, many patients experience meaningful improvements in overall health, including:

  • Improved blood sugar control

  • Improved cholesterol levels

  • Reduced need for medications (when appropriate)

  • Improved energy levels

  • Reduced inflammation

Our goal is not rapid weight loss, but lasting improvement in overall health.

Program Membership

The Medical Weight Program is offered in addition to our Direct Primary Care membership.

Because weight treatment affects metabolism, medications, and underlying health conditions, participation requires physician oversight through our clinic model.

Membership allows us to care for the whole person, including:

  • Reviewing medical history and diagnoses

  • Monitoring labs and metabolic health

  • Managing medication interactions and side effects

  • Addressing other health concerns that affect weight and metabolism

Your clinic membership also provides access to:

  • Primary care services

  • Discounted labs, supplements, and medications

  • Urgent care visits

  • Ongoing physician access and support

Membership Details

  • $100/month program fee, in addition to clinic membership

  • 6-month minimum commitment

  • Medication costs vary depending on treatment and pharmacy

Consultation

Patients begin with a Medical Weight Consultation.

Consultation Details:

  • 30-minute physician visit

  • $150 consultation fee

  • If you choose to enroll, this fee is applied toward your program

This is a one-time visit designed to determine whether the program is a good fit and to outline an initial plan.

During this visit, we review:

  • Medical and weight history

  • Prior weight loss attempts

  • Nutrition, sleep, and activity patterns

  • Metabolic risk factors

We also discuss treatment options, including whether medication may be appropriate, and what a structured plan may look like for you.

If you decide to move forward, we will begin the next steps during or immediately after this visit.

This typically includes:

  • Enrolling in clinic membership and the weight program

  • Ordering initial labs based on your individual needs

  • Providing instructions for completing labs through Quest Diagnostics

  • Scheduling your initial program visit approximately 1 week later

Your initial program visit is where your plan is fully implemented. At that visit, we will:

  • Review your lab results

  • Establish your personalized plan

  • Provide nutrition, activity, and lifestyle guidance

  • Determine whether medication is appropriate

  • Begin your program
